VDFVideo Downloader
English

Facebook Video Downloader

Paste the link of a public Facebook video or reel and save it in any quality up to Full HD, free and right in your browser.

Works with public videos, reels, Watch videos and photos. Short links like fb.watch work too.

How to download a Facebook video

  1. Open the video in Facebook, choose Share, then Copy link.
  2. Paste the link in the box above and press Download.
  3. Choose a quality (for example 1080p, 720p or 360p) or Audio only. The file is saved in the Downloads folder of your phone or computer.

On Android you can also install this site: open the browser menu and tap Add to Home screen. Then share a Facebook link straight to VDF from Facebook's Share menu.

What you can download

  • VideosPublic videos from pages, profiles and public groups.
  • ReelsShort vertical videos, with their sound. See the reels downloader.
  • WatchVideos from Facebook Watch, including fb.watch short links.
  • PhotosFull-size public photos. See the photo downloader.
  • AudioJust the sound of a video, as an M4A file. See Facebook to audio.

HD, SD or audio only?

HD is sharper and bigger. SD is smaller and saves data. Audio only keeps the sound and drops the picture.

VDF lists every quality Facebook has for the video, up to Full HD (1080p) and beyond when the creator uploaded it. Facebook keeps some qualities as separate picture and sound tracks; for those, your own browser joins the two into one MP4 on your device, so nothing passes through our server.

Above 720p, Facebook stores videos only in the VP9 format, which iPhone, iPad and Mac cannot play. On those devices VDF converts the file by itself, on your device, into a standard MP4 that plays everywhere; it only takes a little longer.

For very long videos in high quality, the VDF app is the better choice, because it saves straight to storage instead of holding the whole file in the browser's memory.

Private videos and stories

Private videos, followers-only posts and stories can only be seen after logging in to Facebook, so this website cannot reach them. We will never ask for your Facebook password.

The VDF app for Android can download them: you log in to Facebook inside the app, and that login stays on your phone.

Use it responsibly

Download only videos you made yourself or have permission to save, and respect the creators' copyright. Downloaded files come straight from Facebook's servers to your device; VDF does not host or keep copies of any video.

Frequently asked questions

Is VDF free?

Yes. The website is free with no sign-up. The Android app is free too; it shows ads, which you can remove with an optional subscription.

Do I need to log in to Facebook?

No, not for public videos. Private videos and stories need a login, which only the VDF app supports.

Where are the downloaded videos saved?

In your browser's Downloads folder. On a computer, open the Downloads folder; on most Android phones, open the Files app and look in Downloads; on iPhone, open Files → Downloads.

Why does my link not work?

The video may be private, deleted, age-restricted or limited to some countries. Make sure the link opens in a browser where you are not logged in to Facebook. Links to a profile or a page (rather than a single video) are not supported.

Can I download Facebook live videos?

Not while they are live. Once the broadcast ends and is posted as a video, download it like any other video.

Does VDF keep the videos I download?

No. The video goes straight from Facebook's servers to your device. The list of recent downloads on this page is stored only in your own browser.

Does it work on iPhone and computers?

Yes, in any modern browser. On iPhone, Safari saves files to the Files app, in Downloads.

Stories, private videos and full albums?

The free VDF app for Android downloads them after you log in to Facebook inside the app, and saves the highest quality Facebook offers.
